I suppose if you have come from a PC Background Office probably has a permanent Favorite Font List. Mac version of Office does a Little different. • At least in versions prior to 2016 when you open an Office application for very first time, a Cache File of all the Fonts on the Mac is generated. (I say Prior to 2016, because Office applications open so slow I doubt they even generate cache file and have to take time to hunt all over the computer for fonts.) • In the Font List that drops down when you click on Font Button on the Ribbon, a list of (what Office considers safe, and usable for Office) fonts are Shown.

• If you Click on Format Menu in main menu You Get a listing of any and all Fonts Microsoft recognizes as a font loaded on the Mac. • Finally, when you open a document: As you type and choose a font, this puts a listing of that font you used, temporarily on the Font List generated from Font Button on the Ribbon. Note: these additions are not saved when you close document whether saved or not. (I will qualify this in that at least with my experience with Word and Excel since 1995, this is the way it has worked for me). When you reopen document this temporary list is gone and you have pick and choose until all your favorites are again chosen.

This is such a Good Idea I think I am going to to turn into Suggestion Box.
